The Painted Churches of Texas are some of Texas’ most beautiful and best-kept secrets. They are deceptively quaint-looking churches build by Czech and German immigrants with elaborately painted interiors designed to look like the churches that they left behind in the Old Country. There are approximately 20 in Texas, 15 of which are recognized by the Texas Historical Commission.
A mother-daughter trio is currently working on a book about these Texas gems.
This blog will chronicle our journey, including the writing and photography process, as well as highlighting various churches to give you a little “sneak peak.” We’ll be updating weekly, so stay tuned!
